Corporate Overview

Confluent Photonics Corporation is a leading provider of Optical
Transport Solutions - products and technologies that enable cable-TV
system operators to expand the capacity, or bandwidth, of their
existing fiber-optic cable infrastructure. This enables the MSOs
(multiple system operators) to effectively compete against satellite
and telecom providers in the battle for dominance in providing broadband
media to both residential and business subscribers.
Confluent Photonics was founded in December 2000 as a developer of advanced
optical components. These DWDM components provide numerous benefits
including: low insertion loss, athermal performance, flat filter
profile, and protocol independence. The initial revenue came from
subsystems derived from the advanced mux/demux components.
By 2004, Confluent had transitioned from being a subsystem supplier
to a highly capable solutions provider by the addition of network
engineering, network modeling capability and active products. The
company understands the battle being fought by the cable system
operators, and knows the tremendous strain that is about to be placed
on the capacity of the installed networks. The company also knows
that its DWDM Optical Transport Solutions can quickly and cost-effectively
multiply the bandwidth of the already installed fiber-optic cable
infrastructure. This projected increase in demand combined with
Confluent’s unique focus on technology leadership and customer
satisfaction, is fueling the company’s growth.
Headquartered in Salem, NH, Confluent manufactures its own proprietary
components, and its family of multiplexer/demultiplexer systems
that can be configured into a wide variety of solutions for use
by the world’s leading cable operators.
Confluent, a privately owned company, is backed by a strong syndicate of investors, including:
- InnoCal Venture Capital,
- Rustic Canyon Partners,
- INVESCO Private Capital, and
- Protostar Equity Partners.
